Buidl Boston Executive Forum Look-Back Reflections

Last week, the BBA hosted the Buidl Boston Executive Forum. Amazingly, we’re having an impact at the highest levels. Most notably, the Executive Director of Mass Tech Collaborative and the Executive Vice President of the Boston Fed were in attendance and were both extremely complementary of the Forum. Due to the nature of the event as a pilot, the attendees were selected from Industry, Government, and Academia, with a wide distribution of blockchain acumen, from curious to confident. Table facilitators from across the BBA community curated the table discussions. And several area students volunteered to document the discussion.

Kudo’s to BBA Vice Chair Sam Nathans. High marks for the educational content. It blew everyone away and was just what the doctor ordered for this group.

The BBA Welcomes New Student Members!

Please join us in welcoming two new student members to the BBA: Cristobal Escobar and Katharina Schild.

Cristobal is a business economics major and a fintech and real estate minor at Suffolk University. He’s also a veteran of the USMC and was inspired to join the BBA after learning about blockchain from his uncle.

“I’m hoping to learn as much as possible about blockchain and crypto,” he said. “I believe the BBA can open up a massive amount of doors for me such as interning and partnering with brilliant people in the industry.”

Katharina relocated from Germany to Boston in 2021 to pursue an MBA. She’s complementing her studies with an accelerated Master in Finance. She learned about the BBA after attending a joint event between Suffolk University and Fintech Women.

“I’m excited to become involved,” she enthusiastically stated.

On January 30, 2019, the Boston Blockchain Association officially began. In our first Meetup, we laid out the three parts of our mission statement:

1. To establish Greater Boston as an international hub for blockchain innovation.
2. To support, educate, promote, and advance blockchain technology.
3. To support and connect entrepreneurs with useful resources.

The blockchain space has changed greatly in these last four years. But our mission has not.

Today we are a thriving nonprofit organization that serves as a connector, convener and catalyst for the blockchain industry — not just in Boston, but in New England and the world.

We’ve come a long way since it was just a few of us sitting around a table with a whiteboard. But we remain committed to these principles, and we’re just getting started.

With your help, we’ve got big plans for this year, including our highly-rated event series (both in-person and online), launching new initiatives at the educational and government level, building even more membership benefits for individuals and companies, and launching a new and improved website.

We’re a volunteer organization; the work that we do is funded by our members and sponsors. We’re a 501c3 charitable organization designed to educate in the blockchain space.
