  • Clean and disinfect frequently used surfaces

We all have a part to play in stopping the spread of COVID-19 and getting our society back to normal as quickly as possible.

It is a quiet week in the blockchain community, which is understandable given the circumstances. Stay with us though as we should have much more to report in coming weeks as many organizations are converting physical meetups to virtual meetups.

With that in mind, here are the planned events in Boston’s blockchain community for the coming week:

VIRTUAL MEET-UP: How Blockchain People & Projects are Helping with Coronavirus

Thursday, April 2, 2020 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM

Using Crowdcast, this event will feature a series of 5-Minute talks on how the US Blockchain community is engaging in #Covid19. We are truly grateful that 6 extraordinary people have agreed to speak, on short notice, and in the midst of a heavy workload made all the more so with their #Coronavirus work.

This will be a highly interactive session featuring attendee interaction with the speakers.

Tell the community that you are attending the event with an indication on the Meetup page.

Note the separate REGISTRATION for the Crowdcast session using the embedded link on the Meetup page.

Blockchain technology

Boston Blockchain Events Week of March 16, 2020

Blockchain technology

It was an unfortunate turn of events that saw Boston Blockchain Week postponed due to the spread of the coronavirus. However, we can all agree that the health and safety of everyone is of utmost importance. So, the decision to postpone, while a difficult one, was also the right one. While the week was full of fascinating speakers and events with some of the leading blockchain organizations, limiting public gatherings over the next few weeks is in the best interest of the blockchain community. Let’s look forward to future events and everyone stay healthy.

If you aren’t already, please help support technology and blockchain development in Boston by becoming a member of the Boston Blockchain Association. All you have to do is apply to become a member (takes just a minute of your time) to be sure you’ll stay informed on all Boston area blockchain events.

Healthy.

Due to the spread of COVID-19 there are no planned blockchain events in Boston in the coming week. We recommend everyone remain in their homes whenever possible, and avoid large gatherings if it is necessary to go outside. Remember to practice social distancing and wash your hands regularly. Also, try to remain calm and avoid panic buying in stores.

Assuming the measures being taken slow the spread of the virus, we can look forward to the next meeting of the Blockchain Investors Supergroup on March 26.

If you remain indoors there are still some things you can do. Maybe pick up a copy of “Blockchain for Everyone” by Sir John Hargrave. In Blockchain for Everyone, Sir John reveals the formula for investing in bitcoin and blockchain, using real-life stories, easy-to-understand examples, and a healthy helping of humor. It’s a great read!

Or maybe it’s time to grab a great online course that teaches about blockchain. There are a huge number of choices from Coursera, edX, and Udemy. The courses are affordable (in some cases free), and many are taught by experts in the blockchain field. Some are real college courses from Harvard, MIT, and more of the world’s leading universities. It would be an excellent way to spend your time if you’re stuck in the house.

No matter what you choose to do in the coming week, stay safe and stay healthy!

New job.

Boston Blockchain Events Week of 2/3/2020

Blockchain technology

As we get closer to Boston Blockchain Week (March 7-13), the Boston Blockchain Association is putting together a number of huge events beginning with a seminar discussing the promise of Polkadot in bringing together the blockchain space. Polkadot was founded by Gavin Wood (who was also a co-founder of Ethereum) in 2016. The project is building a completely decentralized web where blockchains can seamlessly work together. Come out and join us to stay on top of the latest technology and improve your blockchain knowledge — LinkedIn has named blockchain as the most in-demand skill for 2020!

We need your help in fighting childhood cancer!

Kirill Bensonoff, a blockchain leader in Boston, is raising money to help eradicate childhood cancer via Haymaker’s for Hope. The charity event, titled “Rock N Rumble X Boston 2020,” will take place on May 14.

Kirill and his family had to suffer through the emotional and physical upheaval caused when his youngest son was diagnosed with leukemia just a few days before his first birthday. Your donation will go towards helping cure childhood cancer. One thinks it could never happen to them, until it does. Kirill is fighting to make sure it doesn’t happen to your loved one. If you are interested in donating in cryptocurrency such as bitcoin or ether, use this link: https://commerce.coinbase.com/checkout/9d11e587-3b68-4b5d-8bb7-6a0e0d11214c.
